Announcing a Significant Milestone: U.S.-Iceland Bilateral Partnership on Geothermal Energy and Climate Solutions 🇺🇸 🤝 🇮🇸 In a notable step towards advancing global sustainability efforts, Jennifer Granholm, U.S. Secretary of Energy, recently visited Iceland to meet with Guðlaugur Þór Þórðarson, Iceland's Minister of the Environment, Energy, and Climate. During her visit, Secretary Granholm toured the renowned Hellisheiði Geothermal Park where she engaged in discussions on renewable energy and innovative solutions with key industry players Orkuveitan (Reykjavík Energy), Orka náttúrunnar / ON Power, Carbfix, and Vaxa Technologies Ltd. The bilateral cooperation aims to deepen collaboration between Iceland and the US in geothermal energy, carbon capture, storage, and utilisation, as well as hydrogen production and use. This accord underscores the shared commitment of both nations to advancing green-tech innovation, particularly emphasising the importance of scaling up technologies.
